Archive for December, 2010

I have trouble keeping track of all those birthdays and anniversaries, so I made myself a birthday book a few years back. Now it’s time for Christmas gifts, and these are the two I made for the kids’ teachers this year.

Covers: cereal boxes cut to 6×6″, covered with patterned paper (Websters Pages), a Heidi Swapp stamp (remember) and a free stamp from Craft Stamper.

Pages: I cut 12 pcs of 12×12″ single sided paper in 4, measuring 6×6″, and stamped on the back, plain, side using various stamps (Technique Tuesday, Stampendous and Tattered Angels) using the masking technique. Edges are distressed.

Embellishments: a few Prima flowers and some lace from Panduro, Viva Décor Pearl Pens for flower centers.

All put together with a BIA.

I got me these new Tim Holtz embossing folders the other week, and thought they would look good using some handmade papers from Svartvik Paper. And they did! These papers go so well with the distressed look of these embossing folders, and I already knew they take the Distress Inks in a lovely way. These papers have inclusions of grass and has a raw edge making them perfect for this, and they also come in various sizes, such as A6 which fits perfectly in the embossing folders!

Some of my more traditional Christmas cards, all in standard 6×6″ format. The base is Bazzill for all of them, the patterned paper is Kaisercraft and K&Co. The lamp and poinsettia are cut with a BossKut Gazelle, the pine branches are made using a punch from Martha Stewart. The dots that looks like pearls are in fact dots – my latest passion is the Viva Decor Pearl Pens! Finally I have found a pearl maker that makes pearls like I want them; smooth ones and not toppy!

I have also used vellum, mulberry paper and some lovely handmade paper from Svartvik Paper in Sweden, this is structured like wood grain. It takes Distress Inks in a very special way as the paper is unsized.

Pearl Pens, Distress Inks, Martha Stewart Punch from CropStop, BossKut Gazelle, Kaisercraft papers from Bumblebee Scrapbooking.
