Glimmer Mist is quite expensive, but you can make it yourself!
What you need is: a spray bottle (I found mine at Dollar Store – make-up-department), decoupage lacquer or PVA glue, PearlEx and water.
In a spray bottle, mix equal parts decoupage lacquer and water, about 20 ml of each will go a long way.
Add one knife-point of PearlEx powder, put on the lid and shake well.
Ready to spray!
Thanks for the great tutorial. I’m going to try it.
Is Mod Podge considered a decoupage lacquer? Also, I was wondering about the Pearl-Ex, I had read elsewhere that Perfect Pearls was preferred because the Pearl-Ex will not stay put. By adding the lacquer, does the Pearl-Ex endure? I hope so because I have a ton of Pearl-Ex.
Yes, you can use Mod Podge too. By adding a binding medium such as this or decoupage lacquer, you get the PearlEx to sit when sprayed or painted on.
Thanks. I did this and it worked great. I want enough mini bottles now to do all of the pearl ex colors i have. this is going to save me a ton of money in the long run.
I’m glad I could be of help, crystal! Now post links to your creations here! I would love to see them.
I purchased a dozen one ounce mister bottles to try your recipe. It worked perfectly. I am not sorry I originally purchased three bottles of Glimmer Mist at full price. Otherwise I would not have known how wonderful it was in my projects. Now I don’t have to use it sparingly.
Making your own spry is a lot less expensive than the Glimmer Mist. I have found from TA themselves that they use colored mica and Gum Arabic. The mica is available online and comes in 100s of colors. Happy Spraying!!!
Thanks so much for sharing your tutorial. I definitely will try it.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for telling us how to make this stuff!!! I saved this as well as the last alcohol ink recipe you gave us.
To think of what companies charge us crafters for all this—-they are RICH@@!!!
Now YOU have helped us in our creativity!
thanks!!
when you say pva glue, do you mean the duo instead of the ppa??
You can use any white glue that dries clear – Elmer’s is a good one!
[…] and something else I think. You can find the exact instructions for the second recipe I tried at Elisabeth’s Paper Art but I used more Pearl Ex powder than she did. I really like it to shine! The Frugal Crafter used […]
Thanks for the tutorial. Sounds easy to make. I will try making it.
Thank you so much for this tutuoria! I tried it last night. One bottle got clogged so I added more water the next try and it worked fine. Yipee!
Hello i was wondering if anyone know where u can get this stuff from … except the water bottle … i so want to make it . and not pay alot ?
What a simple but lovely recipe. Thanks for sharing it! 🙂
Great recipe to make use of the pearlex powders I bought on sale 2 years ago and haven’t opened yet! I have some glimmer mist (4 bottles) and love the shimmer effect – more subtle than glitter. Now I can have more colours without buying yet more products.
I also really like that you have mentioned that a variety of liquid glues are suitable for making the mists. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
If we are using Perfect Pearls then is it still necessary to use the glue since the Perfect Pearls already has a resin built in?
I have never used Perfect Pearls or PearlEx before or come to that Glimmer mist lol. Dummy or what?.
I shall see if our local craft store sells them. I live in Spain and as far as I am awaire we only have one very tiny craft shop in our area.
You can also use Color washes to colour the water with more than just the mica powder. Any fine mica powder will work, as will make up. As well as color wash (which will colour fabric) you can use reinkers, shimer paints and of course perfect pearls. Effectively you can make any colour combo you like just like the real thing 🙂

Cellulite affects 85% of women and some men at one point or another in life.
Now that I have shared with you a very important part of
the process to get rid of cellulite, let’s talk about speeding up the process. Improper circulation of blood and retention of fluid in the body, transform the fat cells into cellulite.
Hey! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.
Is it difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not
very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast.
I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do
you have any tips or suggestions? Appreciate it
Shopper Approved is based on the powerful concept called ‘social proof’,
which states that:
When a potential customer goes online to buy a product or
service, they actually want and actively
look for reassurance that they’re making the right decision. And the way they get that assurance
is
from other customers’ ratings, feedback, and reviews.
This is why statistically, 77% of online shoppers turn to consumer reviews before
they decide to buy!
There’s a reason why Amazon, eBay, Sears, and pretty much every other major ecommerce site have customer
ratings and reviews integrated into their website.
It’s because online reviews have been proven to increase
conversion, increase average transaction amounts, improve customer satisfaction, and even lower product
returns!
